Day 2: 312 lbs

Well, I did the easy part: I stuck to my diet for one full day.

This morning, I checked in at 312 lbs. The first few days of a new diet are always gratifying, since you lose several pounds right off the top. Of course, that's mostly water and, er, solid waste working itself our of your system. Still, it's nice to have some instant gratification.

I'm allowing myself 1,500 calories a day, which is fairly aggressive for a male of my age and height.

I also spent some time working in the yard: mowing the lawn and planting bulbs for next spring. The diet software says that's worth about 900 calories, but that seems high to me. In any event, I'm not going to let myself eat an extra 900 calories just because I spent a couple hours working in the yard.

Today seems to be going well, too. I'm flying solo with the kids, since my wife is working at a local festival. Snap peas and sugar-free popsicles make good low-calorie snacks.
