Why Diet?

Stephanie Klein sometimes feels that if her mate goes on a diet, it means she should to.

I have been very blessed in that my wife has never gotten upset with me because of my weight, nagged me to lose weight, or otherwise made me feel that her love was in any way contigent upon my looks.

I'm sure this must have been hard for her at times, since we met and dated during my "buff" phase, and she must not have been happy to wake up one morning to discover a decidedly un-buff husband.

But we've dealt with a lot of stuff in our marriage (which is true of anyone who's been married for 12+ years), and she dealt with this gracefully.

So I'm not dieting because other people want me to. I'm dieting because I feel I have to. It is high time for me to face my weight head-on and deal with it.

P.S. So far, the day is going well. Lunch presented temptations, but I managed to keep myself within the bounds of my calorie quota.
