Day 13: 308 lbs

Weight unchanged since yesterday. At least it didn't pop up another four pounds: that would have been really frustrating.

One problem with doing daily weigh-ins is that your weight can vary a lot from day to day just from water. Four pounds of water is a half-gallon, and while that sounds like a lot, it isn't really when distributed over 300+ pounds of body mass and digestive system.

On the other hand, getting used to the daily ups and downs probably helps make me a stronger person. Or something like that.

Anyway, yesterday I got a rare treat: ice cream. Yes, ice cream. At the end of the day, I had nearly 500 calories left over, not because I had been intentionally dieting super-well, but because I just hadn't happened to eat that much. Just a reasonable breakfast, a sandwich for lunch, and more of that vegetable stuff for dinner. And nothing else. So I treated myself to some ice cream with those extra calories.

It probably helped that I had a busy day at the office, but it simply never occurred to me to eat any more than that. No snacks, no desserts, etc.

I take that as a really good sign. Maybe my body actually wants to be thin, and I just have to break my bad eating habits.

Or maybe not. I'm not letting my guard down, in any event, and sticking to 1,500 calories per day.
