Day 278: 267 lbs

I dropped two pounds yesterday, getting myself back to where I was Saturday morning.

Does swelling around an injury cause you to gain weight? Probably. I hurt my knee on Sunday while mowing the lawn (slipped and fell down a steep hill), and it has been swollen for the past couple days. It's going down now, and nothing seems to be permanently broken.

I think it's safe to say that the "easy weight" has now been lost. That first nine pounds from 276 to 267 came off in just a few days, and represents my body adjusting to the reality of being on a strict diet again. It isn't some miraculous burning of the body fat, just intestinal contents, water, and the like.

So far it has been fairly smooth sailing, but I've only really seriously been back on the diet for a week or so. Yesterday afternoon I had some real hunger pangs around mid afternoon, but grabbed some fresh veggies to snack on. That helped, and I made it to dinner just fine.

I expect that it will get harder in a few weeks, as it always does.
