Day 290: 269 lbs
I gained another pound yesterday, and I went way over on my calorie count. About 800 calories over. My wife and I managed to get an evening of babysitting, so we went to dinner and a movie, and that did me in.
These dinners away from home are a problem. If I'm not losing weight, then it must be because I'm eating (on average) more calories than I think I am. When I'm at home I'm usually pretty careful to measure how much I eat, using an electronic diet scale and the calorie table in the diet software I'm using.
But when we go out, that becomes impossible--and it is hard to estimate how much I'm really eating when we have dinner at a restaurant.
It isn't always possible to say "no" to dinner out (at least, not possible within the context of a happy family). So I need to figure out some way to either make sure I stay disciplined in a restaurant, or "save up" calories for the occasional splurge.
